Message	Backlash and preload *and* pinion depth <-- and all can cause different kinds of whines. If the pinion depth is far enough out, it can cause vibration. Ask me how I know. In other words, if you have proper backlash without the proper pinion depth, u b screwed. Backlash is fairly easy to set, but pinion depth is a pain. I absolutely abhor ring/pinion setup I hate it Really hate it
